Sarah Franklin, violin,

is known for her dynamic energy, versatility, and poise. A multi genre artist, Sarah is at home playing with Classical orchestras at Carnegie Hall, in Broadway pits, and on stadium stages with contemporary artists.

 

Ms. Franklin has performed with Paul McCartney, Rihanna, Adam Lambert, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Rector, and Skylar Grey. She plays in the American Symphony Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre orchestra, the New York Pops, and Albany Symphony, and has served as principal second violin of Distinguished Concerts Orchestra (DCINY).  She has subbed on Broadway for Camelot at Lincoln Center Theatre, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club/August Wilson Theatre (on both violin and tenor banjo), Swept Away at the Longacre Theatre, and off-Broadway for Sweeney Todd at Barrow Street Theatre. Film performance credits include Amazon Prime’s Mozart in the Jungle (two seasons), Boy Erased (Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman), and Franny (Richard Gere, Dakota Fanning). 

Sarah earned her Masters degree from Manhattan School of Music as a student of Curtis Macomber, and her Bachelors degree at the Oberlin Conservatory, studying with Marilyn McDonald. In high school she had the privilege of studying with the late Philippe Naegele, a prominent violin/viola soloist and founder of the Marlboro Music Festival. Ms. Franklin taught violin for eleven years at the Third Street Music School Settlement, and for nine years at the Lucy Moses School at Kaufman Center. She currently maintains a large private lesson studio on Manhattan's upper west side, where she resides with her husband and toddler.
